Rounded Shoulders

Working at a computer, work desk, driving, bicycle riding or even washing the dishes holds the body in distorted postures and can contribute to the development of rounded shoulders. Round shoulders is usually used to describe a situation where the shoulder girdle is protracted (further forward) than normal often accompanied by a thoracic kyphosis (upper back bent forward).

Treatment of round shoulders

Freeing these muscles and fascia, often with deep tissues massage and stretching will assist with opening up the chest area. Also, if the thoracic spine and ribs are stiff, especially in extension (bending back), massage and mobilization can give more movement here, and thus allow for a more balanced posture to be achieved more easily.
Examining the weak and tight muscles and exercises/stretches will be given to achieve a better posture.
